Merry Christmas! God Loves You!

John 1:14 may well be the most profound theological proposition in the entire bible – The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Imagine the ramifications of this verse – the Word whom John says is God himself, the Creator and author of life, the light of the World taking on human form and coming to live with us – Emmanuel! What could possibly motivate the God of the Universe to come to this tiny speck of dust in our massive solar system, which is itself a tiny spot in a seemingly infinite universe? What could possibly motivate the Creator to become one of his billions and billions of creatures?

John tells us it is love For God so loved the world… Christmas is, at its very core, a love story – God longs to restore us to the relationship for which we were created. That’s why Christ came. That’s why we celebrate Christmas. If you feel unloved, then Christmas is for you. If you feel insignificant and worthless, then Christmas will restore your perspective. If you’ve lost hope, then Christmas is the greatest good news you could ever hope to hear. My prayer is that in the hustle and bustle of the season you will find a few quiet moments to reflect on the good news of Emmanuel – God With Us! Imagine that!
